Lung and Heart
Improve efficiency possible lung capacity and cardio. The results of several publications show that the practice of yoga improves, in normal subjects, pulmonary and cardiac functions and performance in exercise 0.59 to 70. In 2009, two small clinical studies have shown that yoga improves breathing (deeper and slower) and functional capacity of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Test results on the effects of yoga on lung function, however, are inconsistent. They vary depending on the length and type of yoga practiced, as well as subjects enrolled in these trials. Nevertheless, some results are promising. Thus, a preliminary test conducted with 15 patients aged 48 to 75 years, with chronic bronchitis suggests that the practice of yoga could improve their respiration.
