All about body odour

You probably do not think much about the body odor until you are in the gym or on a crowded bus. You spend every morning with your deodorant ball on the strategic areas of your body and it's usually all. From time to time, may you find a scent that is spreading around you and ask yourself: "It is I who feel this way? ". You quickly sniff quietly towards your armpits and you throw a furtive glance around you, just to make sure that no one has noticed your operation and also to try to identify the source of the odor. Where do the unpleasant body odor comes sometimes from you?

To understand why our body gives off an odor, it is good to know something about the sweat. You have about 2 to 4 million sweat glands all over your body, but these millions of small bodies fall into three main types: eccrine sweat glands, and apocrine sweat apoeccrines that produce distinct.

The sweat that cools: Eccrine sweat glands are present all over your body from head to toe. Your eccrine glands excrete sweat produced by a state of nervousness, it is the sweat of effort and a response to an increase in temperature. The eccrine glands perform a specific function: they help the body regulate its temperature. The sweat that comes from these glands is slightly salty, but odorless. You're probably wondering what happens with the feet in this case, and from which they smell. Sometimes your feet smell because bacteria thrive in tight spaces and deprived of light (such as shoes and socks).

The sweat that smells: the apocrine sweat glands, for against, not a very precise function. And while they are found only in a few distinct regions of the body - the most intimate and most hidden - they secrete sweat tends to have the strongest scent. Yes, we talk about armpits, as well as areas around the genitals, nipples and navel. These glands sit on body parts that allow speculating that they had a sexual function at a given time. When moisture begins to cover these regions, an interaction occurs with bacteria on the skin, and that's when the smell is formed which characterizes each person.

Combined sweat: the sweat glands apoeccrines are clearly a combination of two other types of sweat glands. They are located in the underarm area and buttocks and develop during puberty from eccrine glands. The role of these glands is not well understood by those skilled in research.

Body odor is fortunately a problem that is resolved without much difficulty, simply:
  •     ensure the cleanliness of your body and take a shower after activities particularly tiring;
  •     resorting to the use of a deodorant;
  •     clothing made of natural fibers that leave your skin breathe;
  •     undertake activities that allow your body to remove bacteria that may be present;
  •     limit consumption of certain foods, including garlic, which seems to cause a particularly foul body odor.
Heat, a nervous physical activity activates the secretion of sweat. Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) is less frequently observed. It can be due to heredity, certain foods or medicines, excess hormones, a blood sugar too low, certain conditions or other phenomena of unknown origin. You should consult a doctor if your body odor is different or increases or if you secrete more sweat than usual.
