How to Increase BMR Fast
BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate refers to the energy required by your body to perform functions that help in keeping you alive. It is sometimes used interchangeably with metabolic rate which is how fast your body burns up fat. Many think the higher the metabolism the faster you burn fat. For this post we’ll be using these terms interchangeably. There are some ridiculously simple ways in which you can boost your BMR and lose weight. In this post we’ll be taking you through some of the ways in which you can learn how to increase BMR fast. So let’s get to it then…

How to Increase BMR Quickly and Easily

Don’t over cut on the calories:

When it comes to learning how to increase BMR fast many believe that by lessening their intake they are sure to lose weight fast. This is a big NO. Your body is a defense mechanism of sorts. If you suddenly don’t get your normal food quantity, your body will automatically assume that you’re starving and will reduce your metabolic rate. This means that the energy required to perform normal functions is reduced.

With low energy production besides your normal functioning all being affected, you are also sure to not lose any weight. So the first step in learning how to increase BMR is to stop giving mixed signals to your body. A study has shown a rule of thumb of how many calories you should consume a day. You should take your weight in pounds and multiply it by 11 to get your calorie intake per day.

Learn How to Increase BMR- Don’t Skip your Breakfast:

Whenever you eat your body expels more energy to burn up the calories that you’ve just consumed. When you sleep at night your body’s metabolic rate slows down as there are not much bodily functions that take place then. So just imagine skipping a breakfast, your body’s metabolic rate will increase only the next time you eat, that is in the afternoon. So all that time, till then, with a slower metabolic rate, you won’t get any burning up of fat done. This is besides feeling lethargic and tired of course.

Studies have also shown that breakfast eaters are more likely to lose weight than breakfast skippers.

Consume a lot of Protein in your diet:

Instead of eliminating things in your diet, a change that you can make is to consume more proteins. Proteins such as meat, legumes, seafood and nuts are known to increase your body’s TEF by 15-30%. This is in stark contrast to other foods with TEFs around 0-10%.

So what is TEF and how is it important in losing weight? TEF stands for Thermal Effect of Food. As mentioned earlier when you consume food your body expels more energy to start digesting, absorbing and processing the nutrients in your food. This is known as TEF. Your goal is to keep this high when consuming food and that means more proteins.

These are some basic tips in learning how to increase BMR.
